Horizon Power customer service teams will never demand over the phone:

  • Immediate payment
  • Request your credit card or debit card details
  • Threaten same-day disconnection for non-payment
We may request account details to verify your identity when you call us.

Tips to protect you:

  • Never act under pressure. Scammers often use fear and urgency to trick you into paying.
  • Verify all contact. Always contact the organisation using official contact details - never use numbers or links provided in the call or message.
  • Legitimate businesses won't ask for payments through unusual methods like gift cards, wire transfers or crypto.
  • Train your team. Ensure employees know how to identify scam attempts and what to do if they receive one.

This is part of a broader trend of scammers targeting households or businesses by pretending to be from trusted organisations.

Whether it’s a government agency like the ATO or a well-known company such as  Horizon Power, the goal is always the same: to pressure you into handing over money or sensitive information.
